By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, August 26, 2010 : mining The MCL sponsored 250 Below Poverty Line (BPL) dalit farmers to avail the state government scheme that provides an irrigation facility at a subsidised investment of Rs 10,000.

On the initiation of district collector Balwant Singh, who identified the BPL dalit farmers facing hardships in their agricultural activities in Sambalpur district, MCL spent Rs 25 lakh for 250 bore-wells to create irrigation facilities for the poverty-stricken farmers and boost the agriculture produce from the district, a MCL press release said.

The farmers who were totally dependent on rains to raise crops need not have to look at the sky anymore.

MCL chairman-cum-managing director, A N Sahay toured villages in Jamankira block of district along with Collector Mr Balwant Singh and met the beneficiariesworking in their fields.

‘’Agriculture is an important aspect for prosperity and development of the nation and MCL will always try to contribute towards agricultural growth,‘’ Sahay said expressing his gratitude to the district administration for sincere efforts in bringing out change in the life of these small and marginal farmers.
