BY BISWARAJ PATNAIK, August 20, 2015 : Sarathi Raul Baba is difficult to erase from mind. He became a cult figure first by theatrical antics. It’s for sure he had joined some drama school where the guru taught hypno-mesmeric acting tricks. Sarathi Raul picked the ‘imposter oratory’ just too well and experimented in Barimul to best effects.
Even the name ‘Sarathi’ normally attached to Lord Krishna, was cleverly chosen to fleece people more easily than usual. His stars went pale and he became ‘world infamous’ overnight because of his lecherous conduct and related scandal. Whoever first identified him deserves at least a ‘Padmashree’ given these days to all and sundry. To the shock of the identifier, Sarathi, clad in jeans and T-shirt, was seen munching away fish, flesh and fowl of all kinds religiously downed with select foreign liquor as per his food order history during his fun stay at the high-end Golkonda hotel.
Sarathi is already history now. The police swooped in on him for having hurt grievously the religious sentiments of the people. The medico female had first said emphatically she had kidnapped the Baba rather than the contrary by throwing a threat of suicide because the Raul baba was still god to her. Raul took advantage and created an impression that he was a divine creature who cannot commit ordinary human sins or errors. While talking excitedly to the tv channels, his body language became shamefully bolder than before, his trademark hair-tossing act done every third second. He looked drunk and behaved like a mad dog.
The police took strong notice and the intelligent crime branch ADG smelt several rats quite in time and chose to pick the lecher without delay, despite the fact that there was no strong criminal charge to have him nabbed so soon. Believably, the the police considered the ‘hurting religious sentiments’ a big enough crime factor as evidently millions were being fleeced.
The master imposter once nabbed, skeletons started tumbling out and eventually the otherwise hostage medico girl got help and backing to spill the beans in good time. She u-turned and revealed that the Sarathi racket had forced her to accompany the lecher to Hyderabad under threat of life. There is conspiracy to wipe her out through hired killers who have been paid one million rupees already.
Thus Sarthi is tightly cornered now only to shuttle between jail and police remand to vomit more and more truth. Unfortunately, the biggest victim is the stupid medico girl who was innocently enticed into Sarathi’s trap with the bait of material goods. Her full identity with a photo is making round across most of the popular social media. Her privacy is gone and worse can happen as there is no mechanism available to strangle or stifle the high-tech unstoppable IT technology in place. The self-proclaiming god is now a mad dog unable even to bark audibly. He is only able to weep properly to plead mercy, but unashamedly fit to devour the jail meal because hunger has not diminished a bit in his devilish system.
The other big victim is Gajbhiye who fell only because he thought an IPS officer is above law. It seems he never studied well but cleared exams by cheating. Or perhaps he is from a privileged caste or community to get ‘grace scoring’ to beat deserving ones.
It was God’s will that bad people get caught- the unruly Daita community of the Jagannath temple was the first to be disgraced beyond repair. They played with time and moments and the Lord took up a different incarnation. The Odisha vigilance chief has been nearly demolished for trying in vain to cause harm to an honest senior colleague. Gajbhiye is not as guilty for being rude and brutal as he is for stealing big money to buy and grab huge property clandestinely for fish farming. Lord Jagannath guided him to his doom.
There is popular belief that Lord Jagannath’s new incarnation is that of ‘Narasingha’ the most ferocious of the ten Vishnu incarnations to exterminate all evil forces conclusively. Reportedly, Sarathi Raul had shown disrespect to ‘Tulsi’, the sacred basil that bedecks the Lords’ heads, while in Puri during a terribly commercial trip through a local tout posing as an all-knowing preacher.
The medico woman was destined to be defamed. So she longed for luxury and wealth and lost so much. All the same, the people have a duty not to expose her any further but protect her dignity. After all she is only a prey, not a predator.
The people must not ignore a not-so-violently visible community looting and extorting huge amounts of money and materials from simple people: the so called ‘astrologers’ mostly talking crap on private TV channels. Astrology is partly make-believe and partly science. But the masters are just too rare and not easily available. The young painted ones including women coming on tv are just a set of actors with a bit of expertise in bluff management. On inquiry, revelation of acts of making dirty money from sinful acts including charging astronomical fees for consultation (Rs 1000-5000 only for advice) and extracting limitless amounts from people for procedures and events to dispel evil is common knowledge. These mean creatures run rackets with gemstone suppliers and jewellers as well as dealers in other strange objects known to be placating gods or frightening devils. These so called foretellers use the television as their private publicity platform.
Most of them pay the popular channels rather than getting paid for their services. Sincere probes have shown that the astrologers have trapped the wealthy and powerful to make easy money by becoming business advisors and business partners. Unfortunately, the duped people do not complain nor do the income tax authorities take notice. The astrologer racket is as bad and evil as the hyper-visible imposter god men steadily being unmasked to degenerate into dog men.
Taking cue from the morally erring and grossly misguided Sarathi – linked medico girl who seemingly sought more luxury than due to her, health healers called doctors come to mind. The doctor community has lost its dignity since long in India. Money is the prime consideration for them, not curing patients. They hold poor patients hostage at all opportune time extorting money.
Most of the government doctors are no worse than butchers when it comes to making illicit money. They grab salary without remaining at the appointed rural or suburban stations. They vanish when transferred to places they imagine are not fit for them, without notice or appeal.
The health department of Odisha has notified all the missing medical officers to appear before an inquiry officer at a hearing against them on August 20, that’s today as per Odisha Civil Services Rules. If they don’t show up “action as deemed proper will be taken ex-parte,” the notice has made clear.
The government had issued the first notice to the 613 invisible doctors for a June 1st hearing in vain. Only 89 of them had responded to the government on time. 76 doctors had moved court against difficult postings. The second notice for today has been slapped on the 448 who have never responded at all.
A senior government officer says after August 20, the process to sack the delinquent doctors would begin. 67 such doctors have been dismissed last year.
Some of the greedy doctors who make more money privately at corporate hospitals responded to the government warning saying despite tendering resignation the government does not release them. These medicos forget the astronomical sums of public money spent on them take them doctors.
To attract doctors and retain them, the government has decided to offer location-based incentives to the doctors. Under the scheme posting in areas marked most vulnerable would get 100% extra pay.
The government has divided 1,751 government hospitals into five categories, V-0 being the least vulnerable hospitals and V-5 being the most vulnerable, assessed on the basis of ground realities including backwardness, tribal dominance, left-wing extremism, lack of transport facility and social infrastructure and above all distance from the state or district headquarters. Nothing has worked out.
Against 470 posts advertised, only 108 have joined. The doctors willing to work in difficult places and terrains have been promised the skies and the government has decided to keep doctors until they are 65. The decisions do not seem to be right.
The ones that have studied in public medical colleges must be compelled to pay a penalty ten times the expenses made in purchase parity terms in current times. If they dare defy, they must be thrown into jails. Laws can be amended easily. The law makers have to acquire a little more common sense than is marked today.
