By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, August 5, 2015 : Self styled ‘God-man’ Baba Sarathi, who has lakhs of followers across Odisha, is in trouble.

Protests over his alleged sexual escapades continued for the second day on the trot at different parts of the State today, even as the Kendrapara District Magistrate directed his Superintendent of Police to probe the allegation against the ‘God Man.”

Troble times for the self styled Baba began when private TV channels flashed the news that the Baba stayed with a woman in a five star hotel in Hyderabad from July 3 to July 5.

Aul MLA Debendra Sharma had lodged a complaint yesterday against the Baba who has few lakh supporters across the State.

Protest demonstrations were held in various places of the State today over the allegation, which was first flashed by a satellite channel, and the effigies of Sarathi Baba were burnt while tension prevailed around his ashram in Barimul area of Kendrapara.

Police have been deployed in strength to keep off agitators from Baba’s Ashram.

Hundreds of locals tried to enter the ashram of Sarathi Baba alias 48 year old Santosh Roul.

“Security has been tightened on Wednesday in the ashram in village Barimula and its nearby areas to prevent any untoward incident. One magistrate, three platoons of police along with senior police officials have been deployed near the ashram’, said sub- divisional Police Officer Kendrapada Purna Chandra Pradhan.

At Tinimuhani Chhack in Kendrapada town around 500 agitators blocked the Cuttack- Chandabali road by burning tyres for which vehicular traffic was halted for three hours.

Women activists also protested at several places condemning the alleged activities of Sarathi Baba and demanding his arrest.

However, several supporters of the ‘God man’ held a press conference in the Capital City to deny the allegations. They said it was an attempt to tarnish the image of Baba who is not involved in any such activities.

Sarathi himself denied the allegation and said he did not go to Hyderabad with any woman. He challenged the photographs shown on the channel saying they were not of Golkunda Hotel in Hyderabad where he was alleged to have stayed with a woman companion during a visit.

He said the photograph was that of a hotel in Allahabad while some other photographs were of his college days.

He claimed that he did not know the woman shown in the photograph and was in Odisha during the time he is alleged to have visited Hyderabad.
