Odisha, which nearly had not undergone through severe summer this year is now experiencing heat wave-like conditions with the mercury crossing the 40-degree Celsius mark in at least ten places on Sunday.
The industrial town of Angul recorded the highest temperature in the State at 42.7 degree Celsius as against 40.7 degree Celsius recorded yesterday, according to the Meteorological Centre here.
The temperature in Talcher town shoot up to 41.5 degree Celsius, while the maximum temperature in state capital here was recorded at 40 degrees Celsius, the MeT office said.
The maximum temperature at Bhawanipatna, the district headquarters town of Kalahandi district, was recorded at 41.2 degrees Celsius, while it was 41.1 degrees at Hirakud in Sambalpur district.
Balangir recorded 41 degrees Celsius, while at Jharsuguda it was 40.9 degrees, 40.6 degrees Celsius at Malkangiri, 40.5 degrees at Titlagarh and 40 degrees Celsius at Sundargarh, it said.
