An agricultural interactive session ‘Vaarta – The Agricultural Meet’ organized by Tata Steel on Wednesday began on a promising note with participation of more than 600 local farmers and experts from the field.
This interactive session aimed at disseminating latest technical know-how on farming to farmers, enhancing their knowledge about crop techniques to help them increase agriculture productivity through training sessions.
Some 15 agriculture and allied scientists from Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology [OUAT] and other national level organizations are sharing best practices and insights on various agricultural aspects such as quality seeds, productivity, better use of inputs, economical food processing units, pulses production, etc. with farmers in three groups.
Inaugurating the two day meet, Ganjam District Rural Development Agency [DRDA] project director, Ashish Thakre hailed the Tata Steel’s iniative to empower the farmers and emphasized on adoption of latest tools and technologies in agriculture to increase the yield.
Reaffirming Tata Steel’s commitment towards improving lives and livelihoods of people around its operations, Sushanta Mishra said, “Ganjam has a rich history in agriculture. With this interaction, we aim to provide the farmers a much needed platform to interact with agriculture scientists on various farming issues.”
State Bank of India deputy general manager Kausik Sinha, government officials and executives of Tata Steel were present on the occasion.
