Odisha government is working on the ease of doing business to give a boost to the industrial development in the state.
The state industry secretary on Monday will meet the stakeholders to work out modalities to facilitate hassle free ambiance for investment in industrial ventures.
“We welcome the move of the state government for its initiative to discuss with the stake holders to facilitate smooth grounding of projects. The investors do not want any subsidy from the state government, but they look to the state for enabling environment to start their projects without any hiccup,” Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industries [UCCI] president, Ramesh Mahapatra told “Bizodisha.com”.
The state government has come out with a wide range of fiscal and policy incentives for businesses under the Industrial Policy Resolution, 2007. Besides, the state has sector-specific policies for IT and micro, small and medium enterprises [MSME].
The state government has also constituted ‘Team Odisha’ to help with investment promotion and as a part of the state government-enacted Orissa Industries (Facilitation) Act, 2004, a single-window clearance system is under implementation in the state.
However, there are still some nagging problems the investors face in the state. “Despite the single window mechanism, entrepreneurs face lot of hassles. No investor will like to lose money on cost overrun etc. The state government is aware of the issues and hopefully will come out with a full proof policy to attract investment across the world,” the UCCI president remarked.
