In its effort to remove the bottlenecks on the growth of Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the Odisha government is on the job to make the single window system a real ‘one stop service center’ for MSMEs.
Speaking at a conference ‘Make in India- Role of MSMEs’ here on Monday, chief secretary, G C Pati said, consortium and cluster approaches are key to solve the problems of MSME a large extent. Besides, consortiums and clusters will make MSMEs globally competitive. ‘Through consortiums they [MSMEs] can exploit wider marketing opportunities, augment skilled manpower and hire professional expertise for management and technical upgradation of their enterprises”, Pati said.
The industry department is working on to make Singe Window more effective through ‘one stop service centre, Pati said adding that the state government is also simplifying exiting norms and procedures to lessen the regulatory burdens on the MSMEs.
Pati called upon the industry associations and business chambers to join the efforts of the government in identification and development of product specific clusters.
At the same time, the chief secretary urged the Banks to adopt Joint Liability Group (JLG) methods and Credit Guarantee Scheme of the government for financing the MSMEs.
Joining the workshop, union Secretary, ministry of MSME, Madhavlal emphasized on synergy between state and central Government initiatives for furthering the interests of MSMEs. He said that the steps taken by the state for bringing about innovations and establishment of incubation centers have started yielding results which can be taken forward through collective approaches.
Speaking on the occasion, state MSME secretary Panchanana Das, sought the help of union secretary in mobilizing banks for more liberal credit delivery to MSME sector in Odisha. Das said that in spite of the financial and marketing constraints, the MSMEs in Odisha are growing competitive.
At present around 80% of the export is from non-mineral sector most of which are produced by MSMEs.
The workshop was organized under the joint aegis of World Trade Center, Odisha, Union governments and State Bank of India.
