The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday raided 14 places in Odisha in connection with the multi-crore chit fund scam.
According to a CBI spokesperson, raids were conducted on the residential premises of the accused directors of Safex Group, a ponzi firm that that swindled crores of rupees from depositors.
“Raids were conducted on the residential premises of the accused directors like Firoz Khan, Purna Chandra Biswal, S. Chinmaya Subudhi, Amanullah Khan, Santosh Kumar Nanda and other persons. Incriminating documents have been found during the raid,” said the spokesperson.
The places where the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CBI conducted simultaneous raids among others included Bhubaneswar, Angul, Sambalpur, Chhatrapur and Berhampur.
In Bhubaneswar, the SIT searched the company’s office at Bomikhal.
Safex Group is among the 36 companies being probed by the SIT.
It may be mentioned that the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of the Odisha Crime Branch, during investigation, had arrested eight office bearers of Safex Group and seized 12 acres of land and bank account of Rs 5 lakh last year.
