The BJD on Tuesday organised a grand rally of the party workers on the plank of Digital Students’ Convention which was attended among others by chief minister and party president Naveen Patnaik to counter BJP’s Mahasangram rally early this month.

A dozen of senior party leaders, who attended the convention, utilised the platform to rebut the allegations of corruption and misgovernance raised against them by the BJP leaders.

Addressing the convention, chief minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday called upon students and the youth members of his party to play a much bigger role in building Odisha as a prosperous state. He said his government had put in place a ‘progressive youth policy’ to facilitate their greater participation in the affairs of the state.

“Your hard work, dedication and determination that has made the BJD the most successful regional party in the history of the state. We will march further with your continuous support,” the CM said in his broken, twisted Odia read out from a Roman script to cheers from the assembled students.

Patnaik launched an Android app on the occasion in a bid to woo the youth.

More than 20, 000 students attended the convention which was also telecast live on the party’s refurbished website www.bjdodisha.org.in in a first of its kind effort in the state.

All this while, the party’s social media cell announced the “New revamped version of BJD’s website is live now,” and “CM Naveen Patnaik launches the Official BJD Mobile App, which is available for Download from the Google Play Store now,” on Facebook and Twitter.

The high profile convention of Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) was a show of strength after it claimed to have won over 95 per cent of college elections in the recently held polls.
