By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, October 3, 2020: Odisha Assembly on Saturday witnessed raucous scenes over the alleged attack on former Congress president Rahul Gandhi and the party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Uttar Pradesh.

Both Rahul and Priyanka were reportedly attacked when they were travelling to Hathras in Uttar Pradesh to meet the family members of the girl who was allegedly gang raped in a field near her house on September 14 and died in a hospital in Delhi on Tuesday night.

Raising the issue during Zero hour, the Congress Legislature Party leader Narasingha Mishra said Mr Gandhi and his sister were detained, beaten and arrested by the UP Police and did not allow them to visit Hathras to meet the family members of the victim.

Soon after Mr Mishra finished his statement, the Congress members rushed to the well , shouted slogans and did not allow the house to function. They shouted slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath.

As the house plunged into a chaos, Speaker S N Patro adjourned the house thrice and finally for lunch till1500 hours.

As the house could not be run smoothly, the Speaker first adjourned the house at 1040 hours for 15 minutes and again from 1058 hours for ten minutes as the members continued their protest and did not allow the functioning of the house.

The Speaker convened an all-party meeting in a bid to bring normalcy to the house and adjourned the house as the all party meeting failed to resolve the issue.
