By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, October 1, 2019: Odisha government on Tuesday finalized a three-year action plan (2019-22) to train some 1.5 lakh rural youths under the Centre’s Dindayal Upadhaya Grameen Kaushala Yojana (DDUJKY).

Rural youths are trained on apparel making, IT-related service, electrical maintenance, retain management, tourism and hospitality, construction, healthcare management, automotive and supply chain under the DDUJKY. The training period for different courses varies from three to 12 months while placements were given to the trainees after completion of training.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting here at the state secretariat headed by chief secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy. The skill training will be conducted through the Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS) while around Rs 1546 crore will be spent under the initiative in three years, according to an official statement.

In 2019-20 FY, around 50,000 youths would be trained under the initiative. At present, as many as 144 skill training centers are operating in different parts of the state.

In 2018-19 Odisha occupied the number one position in country by training 41,308 rural youths while 31,698 of them were provided placement in different companies.

Padhi directed to set up three new migration support centers (MSCs) in Hyderabad, Pune and Bhubaneswar for facilitation and post-placement support to the trainees.

Three MSCs are currently operating at Tiruppur in Tamilnadu, Bengaluru in Karnataka, and Bhiwadi in Rajasthan, the press release said. These centers register the skilled youths migrating for job, organize health camp for them, provide them the legal literacy and emergency support. The MSCs also facilitate grievance redressal support to the youths.
