By Bizodisha nBureau, Bhubaneswar, November 19, 2022: The Odisha government on Saturday repealed all ongoing restrictions in place to curb the spread of the virus with immediate effect with substantial decline in COVID-19 cases.

The announcement came amid a declining number of coronavirus cases in the state. On the orders of the Governor, a notification in this regard was released by the Health & Family Department, Odisha on Saturday.

The notification read, “In view of the substantial decline of COVID-19 cases in the state over the past several months, Government of Odisha after careful consideration have been pleased to repeal the The Odisha Covid-19 Regulations, 2020 as amended from time to time, with immediate effect.”

However, the state government also underlined that citizens should voluntarily follow all established Covid protocols for their own safety.

The notification stated, “Covid appropriate behaviour is advised to be practised voluntarily by citizens as and when found necessary.”

Citizens are advised to wear face masks, maintain social distance and sanitize hands frequently voluntarily, but there is no compulsion.

The I & PR Department, Odisha shared the notification on Twitter and wrote, “Odisha Covid-19 Regulations, 2020, that imposed restrictions and penalties on gatherings, wearing masks, spitting, etc, have been repealed.”

“However, citizens are advised to follow Covid appropriate behaviour voluntarily, as and when need arises. Stay Safe”.
On the other hand, the active Covid-19 caseload has dropped drastically.

Meanwhile, The Civil Aviation Ministry said the use of masks was no longer compulsory during air travel. But, passengers should preferably use them. Till November 16, the use of masks or face covers while travelling on flights was mandatory.
