By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, June 19, 2020: A Surat returnee has tested positive for COVID-19 in Jagatsinghpur district after completing 14 days of institutional quarantine. The person was in home quarantine for the last five days.

As per reports, the person hailing from Bhajana village under Pokhariapada panchayat was under institutional quarantine after his arrival from Surat on May 27.

Soon after the person was tested COVID-19 positive, the Sarpanch of Pokhariapada panchayat declared the concerned village as a ‘containment zone’ and ordered a 48-hour shutdown.

Earlier today, 165 fresh cases of Covid-19 were detected in Odisha in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally of the State to 4677.

Behera further informed that the village has been declared as a containment zone and all the entry and exit routes have been sealed.

As per the Health and Family welfare department, a total of 175 COVID-19 positive cases have been reported from Jagatsinghpur district so far. The total active cases in the district currently stand at 65 while 110 persons have already recovered.

Ganjam reported the highest 41 cases followed by Gajapati 28 cases, Balasore 21, Cuttack 20, Khurda and Jajpur districts reported eight cases each. Puri reported seven cases, Sundergarh six, Nabarangpur and Mayurbhanj three cases each, Jharsuguda and Bolangir two cases each and Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Malkangiri and Koraput districts reported one case each.

On the other hand, 153 persons also recuperated from COVID-19, taking the total recoveries in the State to 3297 on Friday.
